    • Gastonia - Hazel Eugenia Pettus, 85, of 2300 Aberdeen Blvd. formerly of Oakdale Street in Gastonia, Gastonia, NC, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005.
      She was a native of York Co. South Carolina, and is the daughter of the late Sanford Eugene Ritch and Lena Camp Ritch.
      FUNERAL: 11 AM, Friday, December 16, 2005, Myers Memorial United Methodist Church.
      INTERMENT: Gaston Memorial Park
      VISITATION: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Friday, December 16, 2005, Myers Memorial United Methodist Church.
      Mrs. Pettus was an active member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church. She Participated in the Builders Sunday School Class and ministered to others in Christ through her music and "prayer chain" work. Having served with the Women of the Church, Hazelwas recognized in 1994 by Myers Memorial, for her many years of Christian service to others through her work at the curch. Hazel was employed by the Gaston County Board of County Commissioners for 6 years (1942-1948), and following her marriage, she served her family as a loving wife, caring mother, homemaker and dedicated church volunteer for over 57 years.
      SURVIVORS: Sons, John F. Pettus of Kings Mountain, N.C. and Michael R. Pettus of Davidson, N.C., Three Grandchildren, Shawn Pettus of Gastonia, N.C., Robert Pettus of Cornelius, N.C. andJonathan Pettus of Davidson, N.C. and one Great Grandchild, Kayla McNeilly
