Two Children Lose Their Lives Near
      Great Falls
      Special Dispatch to the Standard
Great Falls, Nov. 16 - News of a sad misfortune reached here this morning. John B. Ritch, a rancher, lives about one mile-and-a-half west of Kibbey, a village 45 miles from here. His family consisted of a wife and two young children. Saturday morning Mrs. Ritch left the youngest child sleeping in bed and took the oldest, a boy of five years, with her in the garden, some 200 yards from the house. After being with his mother for some time the boy became cold and, giving his mother a kiss, went to the house. A short time after Mrs. Ritch saw a heavy smoke in the direction of the house, and running there found it a mass of flames and impossible to enter. As soon as a search could be made the baby was found burned to death and the bones of the boy near it, showing that the brave little fellow made a strong effort to save the baby.
Mr. Ritch is holding a homestead claim, and in order to support his family works away from home at times. When he returned home Saturday and saw what happened he was nearly distracted.
Kind neighbors met and buried all that remained of the children, and assisted the unfortunate couple as much as possible
