      Clyde R. Whitton, 63, Cline Dr., died Friday afternoon, Nov. 6, 1970.

      He was found dead in his truck parked on the Red Tavern Rd., St. Regis Falls, not far from his camp. He had apparently been hunting and had returned to his truck when fatally stricken.

      Charles Mitchell and Gilbert Paddock, St. .Regis Falls area, happened to be driving along the Red Tavern Rd. and they stopped.

      The body was taken to Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone, where an autopsy was performed. Death was due to natural causes.

      Mr. Whitton had consulted his physician on Tuesday. He had been retired at Massena Operations, Alcoa, several years. His son, Philip George Whitton, Sanfordville, was enroute to the Whitton camp to spend the weekend hunting with his father.

      The body was at the Donaldson Funeral Home, where many friends and neighbors called. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Monday morning In St.John's Church, with the Rev. George Easter, rector, officiating, and burial was made in the Louisville Cemetery.

      Surviving are his wife, Mrs,. Lottie Robinson Whitton; the mother, Mrs. David S. Whitton, Massena; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Tharrett, Massena; one son, Philip George Whitton Sandfordville, six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Shaw, Phoenix Arizona, two brothers, Wilton and Floyd Whitton of Massena.

      He was born Christmas day 1906 in Hammond the son of David S. and Nellie Jeffers Whitton. The family moved to Massena and he attended local schools. He began working at ALCOA Massena Operations on August 30, 1929.

      He and Miss Lottie Robinson were married October 8, 1928 in St. Regis Falls by the Rev. E.G. Webster.

      That had since lived in the Massena Area. He was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal and was a member of ALCOA 25 year club.
