      Married in London a Farm Labourer and returned to Hoy then lived at the Russell Manse in Longhope, as a temporary residence, they and their belongings were transported by sailing ship to Longhope. They then immigrated to Manitoba, Canada after marriage in 1883. They arrived late in the fall of 1883 and lived in Winnipeg. He was a Blacksmith.

      They changed the spelling of their surname to THOMPSON in Canada to avoid confusion with other families.
