    • Alannah Rose Ritch died after she was hit by a College Station garbage truck while riding a bicycle

      Alannah was born on May 10, 1995 and passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Alannah was a resident of San Marcos, Texas. A Celebration of Alannah√Ęs Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday September 14 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos with the Rev. Jarrell Sharp officiating. Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday September 13 2016.

      An honors graduate of San Marcos High School, Class of 2013, Alannah was a senior Psychology major at Texas A&M University with plans to graduate in May. She loved music and during high school was very active in Band where she played the French Horn and Trumpet. Alannah quietly served others in so many ways including being an Impact counselor at A&M, serving on the Mission Service Project team for the past 7 summers and helping rebuild flooded homes. She volunteered on several other mission teams, too numerous to list. She was also very active in the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos.

      Alannah loved sunsets, the beach, her family, and hanging out with her many friends. She loved playing the guitar, riding her bike, going to concerts and spending time outdoors. With her warm, gentle, loving spirit and contagious smile, she made friends everywhere she went. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

      Her maternal grandparents, Charles Gorman Sr. and Rosemary Gorman preceded her in death.

      She is survived by her parents, Drew and Kathi Ritch; brother, Zach Ritch of San Marcos; sister, Samantha Smith of San Marcos; paternal grandmother, Melinda Robinson of Austin; several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; her loving boyfriend Clayton Niemietz; and many, many friends.

      Alannah Rose Ritch, 21, a Texas A&M student from San Marcos died at the scene after a College Station garbage truck hit her as she was riding her bike at the intersection of Aryshire and Angus near Kyle Field, according to a city news release. Ritch was a psychology senior at the university, according to Texas A&M online records.
