- PASSING OF PIONEER. Mr M.tflHa Whitton nessed away last Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. cnas. Miner at Darlington. Matilda Flood, daughter of Mitchell J. and Sofia Flood, was born April 16, 1864 in the state of Michigan. When she was 8 years of age she moved with har parents to Gentryville, Mo. Thar she grew to womanhood and on Dee. 22 1871, she was united in Marriage to Thomas W hitter- To this union were born 9 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. She was a typical pioneer mother, toiling and sacrificing for her family. Her patient disposition endeared her to all who knew her. She passed away March 14, 1934, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 28 days. She leaves to mourn her passing her aged companion, seven children; Bert Whitton of Kansas City, Kan., Mrs. Mary Miller of Darlington, Mrs. Laura Anderson of Loe Angeles, Calif., John Whitton of Los Angeles, Calif., Rolla Whitton of LaJunta, Colo., Dick Whitton of Rushville, Mike Whitton of Kalamasoo, Mich. Also ten grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held Friday morning at the St. Patrick Catholic church at Ford City. Burial was made at the Brushy cemetery south of Albany.
