    • We are saddened to announce the death of Chester C. “Chet” Book Sr., age 93, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Ellwood City, PA, died on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Golden Living Center-Titusville, PA. He was born September 17, 1922 in Ellwood City, PA.
      Chester retired from Babcock & Wilcox Company Steel Mill in Beaver Falls, PA where he was employed first as a steel press strengthener, then as an overhead crane operator. He served with the US Coast Guard during WW II and was a member of the VFW Post # 464 of Oil City, PA. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge Post # 78, and the Polish National Alliance, both of Oil City. He enjoyed boating, fishing and flower gardening.
      Surviving are two sons, Dana C. Book of Ashford, Alabama; Chester C. Book Jr of Titusville, PA. Six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
      Also surviving is his loving companion Donna L. Whitton of 17 years…and her family; five sons, Randy E. Whitton and his wife Marsha; Kenneth E. Whitton and his wife Renie; Jimmy A. Whitton and his fiancée Lee; Todd Whitton, all of Tionesta, and Orrie R. Whitton and his wife Vickie of Minnesota. Two daughters, Sally Bayless and her husband Corb of Tidioute, PA; Sandy Grundmeier and her husband Rick of Minnesota. Sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A daughter-in-law, Kathy Whitton of North Carolina.
      Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee (Witte) Book. A son, Frank G. Book. Donna’s son, Steve Whitton. A brother and sister.
      There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.
