    • Elverna M. Whitton Sandrock, 93, of Tionesta, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Snyder Memorial Health Care in Marienville, surrounded by her daughters.
      She was born Dec. 22, 1917, in Guitonville, a daughter of the late Calvin and Bertha (Burdick) Whitton.
      She graduated from Tionesta High School in 1936 and soon married Miles A. Taylor, who died Sept. 12, 1952. In 1954 she married Gilbert "Sandy" Sandrock, who died Dec. 25, 1962.
      She attended the Tionesta Church of God where she previously served as the treasurer for 25 years, served on the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Ladies Missionary (Women of the Church of God). Her faith was an inspiration to all she came in contact with.
      She is survived by her three daughters, Lois M. Lackey and her husband, Gordon, of Tionesta, Shirley A. Graham and her husband, Archie (Tom), also of Tionesta and Irene E. Wright and her husband, Dave, of Chandler, Ariz.
      She also is survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Harp of Marienville and Dorothy Blum of Sheffield; and several nieces and nephews.
      In addition to her parents and first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar and Allan Whitton.
