- Kenneth Urbassik was born Dec. 8, 1974 in Camp Lejeune, N. C., to Kenneth and Lillian Lorraine Wilson Urbassik. He grew up in California until his father left the military and moved to Norman to work in 1982. He graduated from Norman High School in 1994, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2001. He was an active member of Berry Road Baptist Church in Norman. Family members said Mr. Urbassik was a man devoted to serving, following the calling placed on his heart to minister to youth. He was an inspiration to many for he has overcome many obstacles in dealing with disabilities.
Family members said he never complained and always had a smile on his face. He truly believed in Phil. 4:13 which states "I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me." He was loved by many and will be truly missed. Yet we know he is with his heavenly father and has a new body free of all disabilities and ailments.
Kenneth Urbassik Jr., 31, of Norman, died Friday, March 24, in Norman. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 31, at Berry Road Baptist Church with Revs. Alan Quigley, Herb Dickinson and Catherine Bennett officiating. Mr. Urbassik was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecilia Marie (Kacur) Urbassik, Lillian Marie (Whitton) Wilson and Thomas William Wilson. Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Lillian Lorraine (Wilson) Urbassik of Norman; sister, Donna Marie Urbassik of Norman; and grandfather, Joseph Urbassik of Lancaster, Ky. Bearers will be Greg Huffman, Garry Armstrong, Bennie Cooper, Lucas Peters, Jerry Arnold and Dennis Morrow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berry Road Baptist Church, Falls Creek Youth Camp Fund at 500 N. Berry Road, Norman, 73069.
