    • Herschel Whitton, 84, of East Ridge, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012.Mr. Whitton was born and raised in Section, Ala. He was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church where he belonged to the Kings Mens Sunday School class. He retired as the manager of the Chattanooga Times Free Press Garage and Fleet after 42 years and was a member of the Free Press Retirees Group. He was also a member of the Western Chapter Number 80 Royal Arch Masons in Dalton, Ga., the American Legion in St. Elmo, and a U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Veteran of the Korean War.He was preceded in death his wife of 63 years, Gaynell Whitton.He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Aricia) Whitton and Barry Whitton; grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Julie, Alexis, Alaina and Jake; and sister, Dorothy Burns, of Hartselle, Ala.
