    • Kenny was born September 5, 1951 in Columbus, Georgia to Vera Davis Whitton and Andrew Jackson Whitton, Sr. He grew up on his family’s dairy farm. He helped his father to milk and take care of the cows. As a child, Kenny was always curious about how things were put together and loved playing with toy trucks. He was fascinated with trucks. He would build roads for his play trucks to go on. As a young man, Kenny went to Florida with his cousin in a semi-tractor trailer. After that trip, Kenny decided he wanted to drive a semi-tractor trailer.

      Kenny graduated from Jordan High School in 1969. He then took a welding class at Columbus Tech School. In September 1970, he went to work at D&L Centennial Body Division building trailers for semi-tractor trailers. He worked as their national service representative for 30 years. In this job he drove a semi-tractor trailer all over the U.S. In December 2000, he started working for Bill Heard as a diesel mechanic. In 2009, he started working for Muscogee County School District as a school bus mechanic. In 2016 Kenny worked as a contractor transporting mail. Kenny retired in 2017.

      Kenny enjoyed working on the family farm. He loved working with the tractor. He loved hunting and fishing. He also loved travelling especially with his wife, Shirley. He showed her the U.S. that he was able to see on his job with Centennial.

      Kenny was a Baptist by faith and a member of Bethel Baptist Church then Gentian Baptist Church.

      Kenny was preceded in death by his father Andrew Jackson Whitton, Sr.; mother, Vera Davis Whitton; sister, Mary Christmas; and brother, Andrew Jackson Whitton, Jr.

      He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Sheldon Whitton; son, Kenneth Whitton, Jr.; daughters, Melissa Whitton and Debra Whitton; granddaughter, Ariana Whitton; sister, Jean W. Ingram; and many nieces and nephews .

      Kenny would never say goodbye. He would only say “See ya.” We will all see Kenny again in heaven.
