  • Notes
    • Whit Whitten was born on January 16, 1922, to the late William Homer Whitten and Inez Wade Whitten in New Albany, Mississippi. Whit peacefully and quietly answered the call from his Heavenly Father and departed this life on March 27, 2011.

Whit spent a large part of his life in the Pensacola area with his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Warren Whitten. Together they raised four children; William E. "Buddy" (Julianne Smith), Wade, Jr. (Sue Wyrosdick), Nancy (Rick McWhite) and Jim (Sue Wallace). Whit had six cherished grandchildren; Jason McWhite (Erica), Whit III (Paige), Hudson, Christopher (Amy), Warren and Jamie Knight (Duane). He was also very proud of his three great grandchildren, Lainey Grace, Alexa and Graham.

During WWII, Whit was a Corsair Pilot in the U. S. Navy serving aboard the USS Essex. Later he was an agent for American fidelity Life Insurance Company in Pensacola. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

Whit and Kathleen are members of Woodbine United Methodist Church in Pace, Florida.
