    • George William Gurney passed away on Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in Prineville, Ore. He was 74 years old. Visitation was held on Thursday at Whispering Pines Funeral Home, and funeral services were today, at the Prineville Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Warren Powell officiated.
      George was born on Nov. 1, 1930, to Edgar and Ethel (Goss) Gurney in Snowville, Utah. He married Dorothy Kramer on June 21, 1958, in Junction City, Ore.
      He attended school in Junction City, Ore., and the Deaf School in Salem through the 10th grade. He worked for Claude Puckett on the farm and the Hultz Lumber Company. He then worked for Georgia Pacific for nine years, Hudspeth Lumber Company for two years and Pine Products for 12 years. George then went into farming for the next 10 years. He worked as a security guard for Pine Products until his retirement. He was a Prineville resident since 1969 and a member of the Franklin Christian Church.
      His hobbies included farming, cattle, walking the fence line, driving the loop, spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them to drive.
      Survivors include: his wife Dorothy Gurney; daughters Louise Donohue of Elko, Nev., and Linda (Max) Hernandez of Prineville, Georgia (Lewie) Chandler of Prineville, Geraldine (Jeff) Whitton of Redmond, Mary Ann (Gary) DeMaris of Junction City; sister Ettie Kent of Eugene; brother Dick (Evelyn) Gurney of Prineville; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
