    • Vernon W. Whitton, age 74, passed away at 12:59 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, in his Sweetser residence.

      Vernon was born on August 20, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Raymond and Leona (Amos) Whitton.

      For many years, he worked for Vandewater Farms.

      First and foremost, Vernon's joy in life was spending time with his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, they were his world. He also had a passion for work, riding motorcycles, fishing, mowing at his pond, boating and horses.

      Survivors include: son, Charles Whitton (Kim) of LaFontaine, Indiana; two brothers, Jack Whitton (Rose) of Jalapa, Indiana, and Dale Whitton (Cris) of Marion, Indiana; sister, Lavetta Renbarger of Jalapa, Indiana; and granddaughter, Bailey Whitton.

      Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

      Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
