    • An area resident most of his life, he was born April 12, 1925, in Warren, the son of Ora and Carla Lyle Whitton.

      He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948. A truck driver for many years, he was employed by several local companies, including C. H. Bromley in Jamestown.

      He is survived by a son, Homer C. Whitton of Ashville.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne M. Jung Whitton, whom he married Oct. 1, 1948, in Germany, and who died June 28, 2001; and three brothers: Steven, Herman and Clayton Whitton.

      A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Huber, outreach pastor of the New Covenant Assembly, will officiate.

      Friends will be received two hours prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday.
