    • WHITTON, Ralph M. Lt. Col. (Ret), age 93, passed away peacefully at his residence, 1503 Michaels Rd. He was surrounded by family, friends and the beloved staff and the Sisters of St. Joseph's Home for the Aged. He served in the U.S. Army, active duty in WWII, where his unit received six Battle Stars for service in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He continued his service in the Reserve and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He also retired with 29 years from the Southern Pacific Railroad as a conductor. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughters, Carolyn Clayton, Susan Dunham and Kathy Fleming (Kenneth); his sister, Mildred Burhle; nephew, Robert Burhle; niece, Mary Ann Grabo; and his grandchildren, William Clayton, Amanda Clayton, Kala Eckhart, Benjamin Fleming and Karlin Fleming. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Bud Eckhart. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged on Saturday, October 8 at 11 a.m. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery. Date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
