    • Mrs. Allene (Whitton) Hankla, age 92, originally from San Augustine, and had prior lived in California, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in Houston.

      Allene was born to Nannie (Williard) Whitton and Columbus Lee Whitton on November 10, 1919, in San Augustine County, Texas. She and her late husband, Randoloh Hankla, Sr., made their home in California for many years before retiring and coming back to her native State of Texas. She was employed as a College Administrator, where she also was an Educator, where she taught as a Teacher, Counselor, and Served as a Night Dean for Santa Rosa Jr. College, and she was a member of the Eastern Star; Kappa Kappa Gamma, Daughters of the Republic (DAR), Daughters of the Nile, California Teachers Association, and the NEA, and a member of the Methodist Church.

      Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Jean Ferraro officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, May 11, 2012, from the hour of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas 75972.

      Those who are survived by her include: Son: Randal (Randy) Hankla of Houston; Grandson: Marcus Ramirez of Houston; Granddaughter: Ryanne Allen Hankla of San Antonio; Sister: Rosa Lee Ambrose of San Augustine; along with Mother of her grandchildren, Yolanda Ramirez of Houston, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.

      She is preceded in death by her parents; Randolph Hankla, Sr.; Sisters: Mildred Smith, Harlowe Johnson.
