      ROBERT F. SCHMICKER, 88, of ISLAND HEIGHTS, died Monday, June 30. Mr. Schmicker was born in Shamokin, Pa., and was a longtime resident of Pennsauken. For many years he summered in Island Heights and moved there permanently in 1977. Mr. Schmicker received his Bachelor's Degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He worked for RCA in Hightstown as a mechanical engineer for 43 years before retiring in 1980. Mr. Schmicker was a proud recipient of the Sarnoff Award, given for engineering excellence. He was a lifetime member of the Pennsauken First Aid Squad, a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Mr. Schmicker was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Toms River and an honorary life member and a past commodore of Island Heights Yacht Club.

      Surviving are his devoted wife of 59 years, Minnie L. MacKay; five loving children, Robert Schmicker and his wife Catrina of Rye, N.Y., Betty Schmicker-Black and her husband Kevin of Los Alamitos, Calif., Linda Wheatley and her husband Geoffrey of English Creek, Susan DeScioli and her husband Lou of Kingwood, Tex., and James Schmicker and his wife Susan of Severna Park, Md.; and nine grandchildren.
