  • Notes
    • Gloria W. Drummond, 89, of Round Rock, Texas, went home to her heavenly Father on Tuesday, 8 March 2016.

Gloria was born to Edward Oran and Louisa Pauline Whitton, 6 October 1926, in San Augustine County, Texas. Both her parents and her brother, Edward Newton Whitton preceded her in death. She graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas prior to attending and graduating from Trinity University with a BA in Religion. She married R.V. “Bob” Drummond on 18 June 1948 in San Antonio. They initially lived in Austin, Texas, followed by numerous locations in the Greater Houston area, before building their home in Conroe, Texas where they raised their two sons and made their home for over 50 years. Following the death of Bob, she moved to Cedar Park, Texas where she lived for two years prior to moving to Round Rock where she lived for the last eight years.

While raising her family in Conroe, Gloria was an active member of First Baptist Church and was particularly proud of her service in the Woman’s Missionary Union. Besides her involvement in youth sports activities with her two sons, she also served as a Den Mother in the local Cub Scout program. After moving to Round Rock, she joined Central Baptist Church and became a member of an Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) led by Karen Hood. She truly loved Karen and the other women in her ABF as well as Melissa “Missy” Hood, Karen’s daughter, who would come to visit her with her mother.

Gloria is survived by her two sons: Paul Drummond and his wife, Laura, of Round Rock; and Steve Drummond and his wife, Teresa, of San Antonio. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Alex Drummond and his wife, Yao, of Cedar Park; Kate Drummond, of Seattle, Washington; Sarah Drummond, of Austin, Texas; Hannah Drummond, of San Antonio; and Samuel Drummond, also of San Antonio. In addition, she is also survived by her greatgranddaughter: Gloria Drummond, of Cedar Park.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, 21 March 2016 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.

The family wishes to thank Carla Buoninfante, her caregiver, who brought Gloria so much joy in the final weeks of her life. We are eternally grateful.
