    • WHITTON, John Dale John Dale Whitton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 16, 2004 at the age of 56 years. Dale will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carolyn; children, Kevin and Lori; brothers, Vance (Deborah) and Keith (Ellie); sisters, Roberta (Ross) Creber and Myrna (James) LeBlanc; father and mother-in-law, Duwen and Peggy Abramson; sister-in-law Marianne Handson; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Dale graduated from Henry Wise Wood High School in 1965. Following several years of store management in the retail tire industry, Dale chose to serve his community with the Calgary Police Service, whose ranks he joined September 1979. He worked in diverse areas of the Service including Block Watch, School Resources, Community Liaison and most recently, Cultural Resources. Dale retired in 2003 but continued to maintain close relationships with friends in the Service. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed making miniature towns and scenery for model railways. He was also an active member of the South Calgary Community Church. Funeral Services will be held at South Calgary Community Church (2900 Cedarbrae Drive S.W.) on Thursday, April 22, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Dale's name may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta (1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2G 3Y6) or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Tom Baker Cancer Centre (1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2).
