    • Galt Galt, Donald R., a resident of Plantation, Florida, son of the late Mathew R. Galt and Martha Holmes Galt, passed away on 9/11/04 while visiting family in Alabama. Born on December 6, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Collegeville Trappe High School and Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Tarawa and the USS Investigator. He was employed by IBM for 30 years where he worked on the guidance systems for the Mercury, Apollo, and Saturn programs at Cape Canaveral, Florida. He was also in marketing for IBM in South Florida as well as the Asia-Pacific group. After his retirement he worked in the business office of The Starting Place. His family, fishing and cooking were his source of enjoyment. Donald above all else was a loving and caring husband, a proud father, a devoted grandfather and he will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories his survivors: Wife of 45 years, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Carroll Galt; four daughters: Beth Salsamendi (Joseph), Linda Hornsby (Roger), Patricia Mollner (Christopher), Noreen Hornsby (Steven); two sons: Kevin (Laurie) and Glenn (Susan); one sister Sara Kay of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory Church, Plantation, Florida at 10:00 Friday, September 17, 2004. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Diabetics Research, The Humane Society of Broward County or your favorite charity.
