    • Oliver Dale Trent, 79, of Albany died May 27 at Regency Albany.

      He was born in Richmond to Oliver Raymond and Clara Hester Brooks Trent. Oliver was a second generation Oregonian. His grandfather, John Trent, came to Oregon from Virginia. His mother came from Bristol, Tenn. He attended school in Richmond. He also attended the Blind School in Salem for one year.

      He was married to Shirley Jean Scott in Sweet Home. They later divorced. He married Dorothy Sheets on June 24, 1972, in Albany. They moved to Lebanon in February 1973.

      Oliver started working at age 11 for ranchers in the Richmond area. He worked for Willamette Industries for years, also Simpson Lumber, Mary’s River Lumber and TLC.

      He enjoyed traveling around the United States as well as in Oregon, being a volunteer host at the state parks. He also enjoyed gardening, reading and watching westerns on TV. He also enjoyed his shop. He remodeled their home, and built furniture for his stepdaughter as well as their home.

      Oliver is survived by his wife, Dorothy Trent; sons Louis and Cary Trent; stepson Robert Sheeth; grandchildren Kenneth, Joe and Jason; and several great-grandchildren.

      A service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sodaville Evangelical Church, 38200 Middle Ridge Road, Lebanon.

      Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Talking Books through the Oregon State Library in Salem.
