    • Dorothy Ann Whitton, 72, of Sweet Home, passed away on Thursday. She was born in Medford to Loris Garland and Elizabeth (Nelson) Sims.
Dorothy moved with her family to Sweet Home in 1941. She grew up in Sweet Home and graduated from Sweet Home High School. She met and married Robert “Bob” Whitton in 1953, they later divorced.
Dorothy was a homemaker and lived in the family home built by her father in Sweet Home until 1993 when she moved into an apartment in Lebanon to be close to her daughter. In 2001, she moved into The Oaks retirement home in Lebanon. She had many friends and was known as “the greeter” at The Oaks, because she would sit in the hallway and greet everyone as they walked by her. She loved country music and western movies. One of her favorite shows was the “Dukes of Hazard,” which she watched almost daily on the CMT channel. She loved family gatherings and especially enjoyed the Sims family reunion every year in Canyonville.
