RITCH, Honor “Bird” Riley Silvera, passed away 16 May 2016 at the age of 94. She was born 19 March 1922 at Ramble, Jamaica BWI and was a long-time resident of Tampa, FL and Durango, CO. Honor will long be remembered as a dedicated mother, devout Catholic, creative milliner, avid seamstress and fervent gardener. She was stationed in Washington, DC during the height of WWII with the British Overseas Territory section, where she was a member of the mapping team for “D” Day. Honor was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Silvera; mother, Norah Riley Sparks Silvera; sister, Leonora (Lee) Silvera Edwards and husband, Captain William T. Ritch. She is survived by her sons; Leigh Ritch, John (Angela) Ritch, William B. (Kathleen) Ritch, and daughter, Honor L. Ritch; grandchildren, Therese (David) Feeman, Tabetha Ritch, Jared Ritch, Ian Ritch and Shelby Ritch; great-granddaughters, Abigail, Alexa and Annaliese; nephews, Neville Edwards and Angus Edwards. Special consideration to be given to her family in Scotland and the UK, Mrs. Brian Stewart, Theona, Rory Stewart and Nancy Rowland, all of whom she had a special love for. The family will be privately offering for the repose of her soul. As a devoted Catholic, she would wish to be remembered in your prayers or a mass in her memory. Captian John Barr Whitton , Marine Superintendant of the Union Castle line at Southampton retired on the 15th October 1929
He began his career with the firm Barnes Guthrie and Co of Cardiff.
He was associated with the old Castle Line since 1892
He commanded many of that companies lines including the Goorkha, Guildford Castle and Garth hospital ships.
In 1918 The Hospital Ship Goorka was mined with nearly 400 wounded troops on board but they were all got safely ashore. During the War his ship was stopped by a German submarine the commander of which after searching the vessel wished Captain Whitton bon Voyage and shook him by the hand.

Carlton R. Whitton, 51 year old Lisbon farmer and father of six children and was instantly killed and his two soldier sons were seriously injured in a one-car accident on the Morley-Lisbon highway at about 3 pm yesterday. ... The group had been in Canton and were returning home when the accident happened.

Mr. Whitton was born in Ellendale, the town of Gouverneur, March 21, 1900, the son of James and Ardella Heath Whitton. He was married to the former Anna King of Lisbon in a ceremony performed in Waddington by the Rev. Mr. Johnson, then pastor of the Methodist Church, on Oct 29, 1929. He has a farmer in the Town of Lisbon since 1945.

Surviving his death besides his wife and father, were the two sons injured with him, Pvt J Whitton and Cpl Robert C Whitton, two other sons. Ralph and Reginald, and two daughters, Ruth and Mary.

Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: David and Claude Whitton, Morley; Mrs. Hazel Shettler, Shelland Wash; Mrs. Paglena Walker, Mechanicville; Darrus Whitton, New YOrk Sity, Sgt. James Whitton and Miss Violet Whiton, Morley.
